Trafford

Born on the 23rd July 1900 at Hume, Manchester, the birth being registered
during the September quarter 1900 in the Chorlton R.D., the eldest son of
Arthur & Sarah Alcock (nee Ashton).

1901 Census - 3 Thurza Street, Hulm, Manchester.   Son - aged 8 months -
born: Manchester.   Head of household - Arthur Alcock - Married - aged: 25
- occ: Railway Station Master - born: Fallowfield, Manchester.   Also Sarah
Alcock - Wife - aged: 25 - born: Denton, Lancashire.

Attended Seymour Park School, Old Trafford.

1911 Census - 42 Fulford Street, Old Trafford.   Son - aged: 10 - Scholar -
born: Manchester.   Head of household - Arthur Alcock - Married - aged: 35
- occ: Assistant Railway Superintendent - born: Fallowfield, Manchester.  
Also Sarah Alcock - Wife - aged: 35 - born: Denton, Lancashire.  Plus his
younger brother - Arthur Stanley.

On the 25th January 1918, he joined the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve.

ADM - Enlisted 25th January 1918.  He was 6 feet 1 inch in height, had
Brown hair, Grey eyes and a Fresh complexion.  His chest measured 33
inches.  He served on Victory VI from the 3rd June to the 4th July 1918,
when he was discharged with Acute Pneumonia.   His character was recorded
as Very Good and his ability as Satisfactory.  Victory VI was a Royal Naval
Training School situated at Christal Palace, London.

It would appear that he contracted Infuenza that was starting to sweep the
Country 1917/1918.  Influenza invariably developed into Pneumonia and he
died in the Norwood Cottage Hospital, Croydon, Surrey. 

Death reported in the 8th July 1918 edition of the Manchester vening News.

His death was registered during the September quarter 1918 in the Croydon
R.D. - ref: 2a/385 - aged: 17.

CWGC - Son of Arthur Alcock of 25 Reynolds Road, Old Trafford.

His father Arthur died 12/08/1933 aged 37 years and his mother Sarah, died
18/01/1959 aged 79 years.
