Born during the September quarter 1880 in the Stockton R.D. - ref:10a/76,
the eldest son of William & Isabella Mary Atkinson.

1881 Census - 1 Cuthbert Street, Thornaby with South Stockton,
Middlesborough, North Yorkshire.    Son - aged: 8 months - born: Stockton,
Durham.   Head of household - William Atkinson - Married - aged: 23 - occ:
Joiner - born: Newton, Yorkshire.   Also Isabella Atkinson - Wife - aged:
21 - born: Staithes, Yorkshire.   Plus 1 elder sister.

1891 Census - Westbury Street, Thornaby, Middlesborough, North Yorkshire.  
 Nephew - aged: 10 - Scholar - born: Stockton, Yorkshire.   Head of
household - Robert Atkinson - Single - aged: 35 - occ: Head Master at Board
School - born: Newton in Cleveland, Yorkshire.    Also - Jane Atkinson
(Robert's mother) - Widow - aged: 81 - born: Castleton, Yorkshire. Recorded
as being Blind.   Plus 1 domestic servant.

1901 Census - No Trace.

1911 Census - 14 Wellington Square, Altrincham.    Head of household -
Married - aged: 30 - occ: Clerk in Pattern Shop - born: Stockton, Durham.  
 Also Agnes Atkinson - Wife - aged: 30 - born: Darlington, Durham.   Plus
their 2 children - Gladys (b.1904) & Robert (b.1906)

Enlisted in the Cheshire Rgt - No. 241348 in 1915 and later transferred to
the RWF.     Previous to that service he was serving in the Home Defence
Corps.  The Linotype Memorial lists him as serving with the Cheshire's.

Death reported in the 24/09/1918 edition of the Altrincham Guardian which
states that he lived at 14 Wellington Square, Altrincham.

Commemorated on the private family (sister's) gravestone in Christchurch
Churchyard, Timperley, which states that he was KiA in September 1918.

Two of his brothers were serving in the Army - one was at the front the
other was wounded and back in the UK.

He left a widow and four children.
