The Battalion was involved right from the start of the Battle of the Somme
1916.   They suffered heavy losses in their attack on Ovillers on the 7th
July.   Posted to Pommiers Redoubt on the 30th September 1916 and were in
the trenches west of Gueudecourt on the 2nd October, the day James was
killed.

Listed in the Guardian Year Book - Roll of Honour for 1917.
