8a/196, the son of Walter & Florence Annie Drinkwater (nee North).

1901 Census - Sugar Lane, Timperley.   Son - aged: 5 - born: Timperley.  
Head of household - Walter Drinkwater - Married - aged: 31 - occ: Coachman
(Domestic) - born: Knutsford.   Also - Florence Drinkwater - Wife - aged:
32 - born: Clayworth Nottinghamshire.   Plus 3 siblings.

1911 Census - 71 Stamford Park Road, Hale.   Son - aged: 15 - occ: Under
Gardener - born: Timperley.   Head of household - Walter Drinkwater -

WO 363 - Enlisted on the 30th September 1915 and directed to the Mechanical
Transport Depot at Grove Park, Lee, London S.E. on the 6th October 1915.  
He was residing at 24 Sugar Lane, Timperley and employed as a Driver.   He
was aged 20 years, 2 months.  He was 5 feet 1 1/2 inches in height and
weighed 105 lb.  His chest measurements were 31 1/2 to 33 1/2 inches.

He was posted to Salonika and embarked on the "H.T. Minnewaska" on the 17th
October 1915 bound for Alexandria where they arrived on the 30th October
1915.   He embarked again on that ship on the 30th December 1915 and
arrived at Salonika on the 3rd January 1916.

He was first admitted to hospital suffering from Malaria on the 25th July
1916.    Transferred to St. Andrews Barracks Hospital, Malta on the 8th
August 1916.  Then transferred into the Ghajn Tuffieha Camp Hospital on the
19th August 1916.   Discharged on the 7th September 1916 and joined the
H.T. Nile heading back to Salonika on the 12th September and back into the
244 M.T. Company the following day.   Admitted to hospital again on the
29th September 1916. He was returned to Malta on the 12th October 1916 and
into the Ghajn Tuffieha Camp Hospital on the 17th November 1916.  
Transferred to All Saints Convalescent Camp on the 8th January 1917. 
Discharged and returned to Salonika aboard the H.T. Minnewaska arriving
back there on the 27th January and attached to the 137 Army Troops Company
Royal Engineers on the 31st January 1917.

Admitted to hospital on the 3rd June 1918 and discharged on the 13th June. 
 Admitted to hospital again on the 10th November 1918, by now he had
suffered around 20 attacks of Malaria during his time in Macedonia, which
he had contracted on service out there.   His temperature was 103 degrees
and he was very weak on the evening of the 11th November - he died of heart
failure at 07.30 hrs on the 12th.

In 1920, his parents were residing at "Elmhurst", 8 Belgrave Road, Colwyn
Bay, Wales.
