1901 Census - 23 Duck Street, Clitheroe, Lancashire.   Son - aged: 3 -
born: Clitheroe.   Head of household - Mark C. Embley - Married - aged: 35
- occ: Cab Driver - born: Clitheroe.    Also - Ann J. Embley - Wife - aged:
34 - born: Denbigshire, Wales.   Plus 1 younger sister and a paternal
aunt.

1911 Census - 4 Bury Street, Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire.    Son - aged: 13 -
occ: Cotton Weaver - born: Clitheroe.   Head of household - Mark Clifford
Embley - Married - aged: 45 - occ: Carter - born: Clitheroe.    Also - Ann
Jane Embley - Wife - aged: 44 - born: Methin, Denbigshire, Wales.   Plus 1
younger sister.

WO363 - Attested into the Royal West Kent Rgt at Accrington on the 11th
January 1915.   His address was 4 Bury Street, Oswaldtwistle and he was
aged: 19 years 4 months.  Employed as a Labourer at a Mill.  He was 5 feet
5 1/4 inches in height, he weighed 127 lb.  His fully expanded chest
measurement was 37 inches.    Initially posted to the 8th Bn RWK Rgt on the
30th August 1915.   He sustained a GSW (Gun Shot Wound) to his right leg on
the 26th September 1915.   Returned to England on the 2nd October 1915
aboard the H.S. (Hospital Ship), Egypt .   Posted to the 9th Bn RWK Rgt on
the 25th January 1916 and to the 2nd Bn RWK Rgt on the 16th February 1916.


Whilst stationed at Khanuiyah he was disciplined for having a dirty rifle
on parade on the 16th July 1916, for which he received 5 days CB (Confined
to Barracks).    Reported as dangerously il at Khanuiyah ??? on the 18th
September 1916, suffering from Cellulitis (deep infection of the skin).

On the 26th February 1917, his mother wrote to the RWK Rgt referring to her
son's personal effects and asking what has happened to his watch, his
cigarette case, rosary and medals.

MIC - Posted to France on the 30th August 1915.   Awarded the 15 Star, the
VM & GSM.

Pension Records - Mother - Mrs. Ann Jane Embley - 4 Bury Street,
Oswaldtwistle, Lanbcashire.  This  address was crossed out and 40 Woodheys
Drive, Sale inserted.   She was awarded a weekly pension of 5/- w.e.f. the
31st July 1917.
