The Aldington Court was built in 1929, it's gross register tonnage was 4,891, it was 422 feet long, 55 feet wide and could make 12.5 knots. A cargo ship, it was one of 27 ships operated by Haldin & Phillips Ltd, 1 Leadenhall St, London EC3. West of South Africa, on the 31/10/42 she was torpedoed by U-172 and sank in position - 30.20S 02.10W. There were 10 survivors, but 34 crew/passengers were lost. | |||
