I BELIEVE THAT THIS "JOHN INIONS" (Formerly JOHN ONIONS), IS THE "JOHN R.
ENNION" THAT IS LISTED ON THE CHAPEL STREET MEMORIAL. THE "JOHN ENNION"
LISTED ON THAT MEMORIAL SHOULD HAVE BEEN "JOHN INIONS" WHOSE WIFE AND
CHILDREN RESIDED AT CHAPEL STREET. HIS IN-LAWS WERE PART OF THE CHAPEL
STREET HENNERLEY FAMILY. SOMEHOW, IN 1919, SOMEONE HAS MISTAKENLY
INSCRIBED "ENNION" FOR "INIONS", BY THE TIME THE MEMORIALS WERE BEING
CREATED, HIS WIDOW HAD LEFT THE DISTRICT, SO WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO
CORRECT THE ERROR. HE IS LISTED SIMPLY AS "JOHN ENNION" (NO 'R') ON THE
CHAPEL STREET MEMORIAL, WHEREAS ON BOTH THE ALTRINCHAM ROLL OF HONOUR AND
ST. MARY'S WAR MEMORIAL RECORD THE NAME AS "JOHN R. ENNION". I HAVE NOW
SUBSTITUTED "JOHN INIONS" AS THE CHAPEL STREET "JOHN ENNION".
