Enlisted soon after the outbreak of war.

The 7th Bn, Border Rgt were part of the 51st Brigade, 17th (Northern)
Division.

Commemorated on the family grave in Urmston Cemetery.   His brother -
George Jones was also killed during WW1.  A third brother - Private Richard
Jones, King's (Liverpool) Rgt is also commemorated on this gravestone, but
he died on the 8th August 1923.

Died on the day of his 20th birthday.

Listed in the Guardian Year Book - Roll of Honour for 1917.
