Born on the 12th June 1890, the birth being registered during the September
quarter 1890 in the Altrincham R.D. - ref: 8a/172, the son of William &
Alice Royle (nee Wright).

1891 Census - Son - aged: 9 months - born: Ashton upon Mersey.   Head of
household - William Royle - Married - aged: 34 - occ: Wine merchant's
Assistant - born: Ashton upon Mersey.   Also - Alice Royle - Wife - aged:
32 - born: Carrington.  Plus 2 elder sisters and his paternal grandfather.

1901 Census - Buck Lane, Ashton Upon Mersey.    Son - aged: 10 - born:
Ashton upon Mersey.    Head of household - William Royle - Married - aged:
45 - occ: Carter for a Wine & Spirit Merchant - born: Ashton upon Mersey.  
 Also - Alice Royle - Wife - aged: 44 - born: Carrington.    Plus - 2 elder
sisters.

His father - William Royle died in 1905, aged: 54.

Royle - Widow - aged: 52 - born: Carrington.   Plus 1 elder brother.

Married - Jesse Owen during the March quarter 1914 in the Bucklow R.D. -
ref: 8a/320.  They had one son -  William Royle (b.1914).

Lost at Sea aboard the HMAT Warilda.   From Wikipedia:- On the 3rd August
1918, the Warilda was transporting wounded soldiers from Le Havre, France
to Southampton when she was torpedoed by the German submarine UC-49.   This
was despite being marked clearly with the Red Cross.  She was one of a
number of hospital ships torpedoed during the war, that Germany claimed
were also carrying arms.

The ship sank in about two hours, and of the 801 persons on board, 123 died
when the Warilda sank. The Deputy Chief Controller of the Queen Mary's Army
Auxiliary Corp, Mrs Violet Long, also lost her life in this action.   Her
wreck lies in the English Channel.

St. Martin's Memorial & Window both correctly state T.W. Royle.    The
Cenotaph states only T. Royle.
