Part of a crew of four, he took off from RAF Lindholme in a Hampden Bomber
Mark 1 - No. AD730VN piloted by Pilot Officer J.K. Hill, for a bombing
operation to Berlin (the target that all aircrews dreaded).  On their
return, they overflew England and the Irish Sea and ended up crashing on a
hillside close to Blessington, County Wicklow, south west of Dublin.

The entire crew of four died in the crash and are buried together in the
north east corner of Blessington Churchyard.
