Born during the March quarter 1922 in the Salford R.D. - ref: 8d/27, the
younger son of John & Elizabeth Wilcock (neƩ Bingham).

Flying with 103 Squadron in Lancaster Mk III - No. ND363 PM-A, the aircraft
took off at 17.10 hrs from RAF Elsham Wolds for a bombing mission on
Berlin.   The aircraft was shot down by a night fighter at 22.58 hrs,
crashing into the Wadenzee, east of Texel, killing the crew of seven.

The Pilot was Flight Lieutenant K.H Berry DFM and the other members of the
crew were - Sqn. Leader H.L. Lindo DFC, RCAF. -  Flying Officer K.L. Atkins
- Warrant Officer W.E. Mitton - Flight Sergant J.J. Peacock - Flying
Officer J.C. Southey.

S/L Lindo and W/O Mitton have no known graves and are commemorated on the
Runnymede Memorial.  The other crew members were buried at Texel on the
17th February 1944.

Texel is one of the Wadden Islands 5 Kms off the northern coast of the
Netherlands.
