Born during the March quarter 1898 in the Salford R.D. - ref: 8d/3, the
third son of William & Mary Ann Wightman.

1901 Census - No Trace.

Attended St. Matthew's School, Stretford.

1911 Census - 69 Egerton Street, Sale.   Son - aged: 13 - Scholar - born:
Weaste, Salford.    Head of household - William Wightman - Married - aged:
62 - occ: Electrical Cabinet Maker - born: Kirkudbright, Scotland.  Also -

Employed as a Turner at Westinghouse Ltd.

Aged 17 years he enlisted in February 1915 and was drafted to the front in
February 1917.

Wounded twice - the last time on the 1st September 1918.

He was reporting back to his battalion after being discharged from hospital
when he was hit by a shell and killed instantly.

Death reported in the 01/11/1918 edition of the Altrincham Guardian.
