The plaque labelled "Memorial - WW1" is the Hale Methodist Church Memorial.
In addition, there is a carved oak Font Memorial to 2nd Lt. Frith,
afixed to which is a small brass plaque - 90 years of cleaning has
eroded some of the inscription, making it hard to read. It reads:-
"Pro Deo Et Patria (For God and Country)
In loving Memory of
2nd Lieut. Henry George Frith
son of Henry and Harriet Frith
Killed in Action near Ypres
31st July 1917 * Aged 28"
There are two other brass plaques that have come from another church
in Hale that has closed down. I am currently trying to ascertain
which church that was. Until then, they will be listed with the
Hale Methodist Church Memorials.
Based on the addresses of those named on these two unknown memorials,
I now believe that they may have come from the Altrincham
Congregational Church - can anyone confirm that, or suggest any
alternatives ?
