Attended the Merchant Taylors School, Great Crosby, Lancs, and St. Mary's College, Blundell Sands, Lancs. Employed as a Salesman for H.E. Nunn Ltd, Manchester. Flying with 10 Sqn the crew of five took off at 22.25 hours from RAF Leeming, Yorkshire, in a Whitley bomber - No. P5048 No. ZA-H for a bombing run on Hamburg. They were last heard of at 02.23 hours when they sent a wireless message stating that they had attacked the target. The entire crew were lost and are commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial - they were:- Pilot - Pilot Officer P.B. Gough, Sgt. L. Manchip, Sgt. R. Richardson and Sgt. D.F.F. Watson. His father was also killed on active service on the 20/03/40 on S.S. Barn Hill. Local newspaper reference states Gordon Stewart. | |||
